AffiliateManager.com requires FTC compliance from all our affiliate partners. These requirements apply to affiliates who promote our products via written reviews, testimonials, endorsements or other forms of written promotion. They are not applicable to display ads, text ads, or other traditional forms of advertisement. The goal of these disclosures are to inform your traffic that your post may be compensated in some way.
There are four basic requirements for disclosures. All disclosures must be: Frequent, Clear, Conspicuous, and Requiring No Action. Details on how to comply with the Four Standards are below. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to us !
A disclosure should be related to every compensated post. A single disclosure found via a link at the bottom of the page is not accepted by the FTC. The disclosure should be easily visible when viewing the post or content.
Disclosures should be easily understandable by those viewing your post. Legalese shouldn't be included. Instead, simply state "Company X gave me this product to try in exchange for an honest review" or "I may be compensated through the links in the post below, but the opinions are my own. Read the full disclosure."
The disclosure should be easily visible when viewing the post or content. A disclosure should be placed above each post (prior to any affiliate links) and should be easily viewable. Clicking a button shouldn't be required in order to view any disclosure.
In reviewing the guides, there are a couple items which may further help you in your appropriate disclosure of your review.
If a post is based upon the experience of multiple reviewers, your traffic may assume the results you experienced are typical. The review should disclose that results may not be typical for everyone.
Non-Site Media Disclosure
Video: A disclosure is needed for video just as it is for websites or blogs.
Twitter: Although under character constraints, a disclosure must be made. The simplest way to achieve this is using #paid or #ad
Facebook: A disclosure must be included on all posts. This can follow the same, simple disclosure messaging as Twitter by using #paid or #ad.
Review Content: Opinions expressed should be honest in all posts. Do not make claims which can't or have not been proven (ie. X product will cure a particular disease) or falsify your true opinion or experience with the product.
